Content is the new clutter. It insidiously tries to claim space in our inboxes, our focus, our energy and our time. It instigates feelings of lack, that what you want is out there - always out there. Its appetite is insatiable. It's like a snake eating its own tail. It is a race to the lowest common denominator. It's meaningless "likes" and "followers" for the sake of numbers. Its only goal is to win the rat race so as to escape the rat race.
Substance sees the rat race for what it is while intentionally maintaining focus on creating new paradigms. It is rooted in evidence and experience and always grounded by the big picture. Substance focuses on what will still matter long after the current fads have long since faded and been replaced by new ones. Substance gently reminds you that the secret to having it all is knowing that you already do.
Now that we have gotten that out of the way, take a pause before hitting "buy" on the next shiny object. Maybe it will be what you want - and need - and maybe it won't. Return to it the next day and see if it still feels as shiny. Think of all the shiny objects, material or virtual, that you have exchanged your time, energy and money for. Was it worth it? Did they turn out to be content or substance?
And what about what you are putting out into the world?
Now return to what you know substance to be made of and calibrate your soul to only play at that level.
